Chubu Region

Shizuoka

For a long time, the region of Chubu has been renowned for the production of sake. Covering roughly a dozen smaller subregions, such as Shizuoka, the region provides perfect growing conditions for rice. In fact, each year farmers from Shizuoka harvest over 80,000 tons of rice from their fields.

Gifu

Gifu is a region located in Chubu that is known for its environmentally friendly farming practices in its vast plains. The rice produced here is so prized that it has earned the esteemed Japanese award for having the country's best rice. Experienced generations of skilled farmers teach their trade to the newcomers, and with their expertise, the region has grown to produce more than 110,000 tons of rice annually.
