Shikoku Region

Kochi Prefecture, located on the southern coast of Japan's smallest island, Shikoku, is renowned for being one of the most beautiful in the country due to the abundance of natural beauty it possesses. The prefecture is the largest on the island, yet has the lowest population, and has the highest portion of forests out of all Japanese prefectures. Not only that, but heavy rainfall creates a number of rivers running through Kochi. This makes it the perfect place for sake brewing, which is a popular activity in the region. Thus, Kochi's sake industry is also thriving.
