Sumikawa Sake Brewery, known for the sake brand "Toyobijin," located in Hagi City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, has brewed a new sake using yeast extracted from roses associated with Empress Michiko. This sake features a vibrant aroma and a sharp, refreshing taste a long finish characteristic of flower yeast, and a vibrant aroma distinguish "Princess Michiko." This sake is brewed using yeast isolated from the rose variety "Princess Michiko," by Tokyo University of Agriculture. This rose, which blooms beautiful orange flowers, was presented from the UK to Crown Princess Michiko when she was the Empress.
